💡 Google truncates by pixel width, not a fixed character count, and may rewrite titles or pull a different snippet. Use ~60 characters for titles and ~158 for descriptions as a safe guide, and put the important words first.

Why your search snippet matters
Your title and meta description are the ad Google shows for your page. Ranking gets you on the page; the snippet decides whether people click. A clear, specific title with your keyword near the front, and a description that says exactly what the visitor gets, can lift your click-through rate without changing your ranking at all — which is why previewing it with a SERP simulator before you publish is worth the thirty seconds.
Long titles get cut off mid-sentence, vague descriptions get ignored, and Google may replace a weak snippet with its own. This tool helps you avoid all three.

Writing titles and descriptions that get clicks
Lead with the keyword, add a benefit or a differentiator (India, free, fast, honest pricing), and keep it human — no keyword lists. Match the description to what the page actually delivers so the click turns into a customer, not a bounce. Pair this tool with our keyword density checker to make sure the page body backs up the promise, check that crawlers can actually reach the page with our robots.txt generator, add structured data with our schema markup generator, read how to write content for a website, or let our website copywriting service and local SEO services handle titles, descriptions, and on-page SEO for every page.

SERP preview tool — FAQs
How long should a title tag be?
Around 50–60 characters is safe. Google cuts by pixel width (roughly 600px on desktop), so wide letters use more room — the preview shows you when it will be cut.
How long should a meta description be?
About 150–158 characters on desktop; mobile shows a little less. Put the key promise in the first sentence.
Why does Google show a different snippet than mine?
Google sometimes rewrites titles or pulls text from the page it thinks matches the search better. A clear, specific, honest snippet that matches the page content is used more often.
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Not directly — but a better description gets more clicks, and click-through matters. It is one of the cheapest wins in SEO.
Can you write my titles and descriptions?
Yes — as part of our copywriting and local SEO services.
