Google Workspace pricing in India looks simple on Google’s website and then gets confusing at checkout — the advertised per-user price excludes GST, changes with annual versus monthly billing, and the plan names have been renamed more than once (you may still know it as G Suite). This guide lays out what a small business actually pays, in rupees, and which plan you genuinely need.
Typical Cost (as of mid-2026)
₹99 – ₹1,080 /user/month
Google’s own subscription, billed by Google — plus 18% GST on top, with annual commitment pricing shown here. Always confirm the current number on Google’s pricing page before committing; these prices change.
Google Workspace Pricing in India — the Current Plans
As of mid-2026, Google’s India lineup works like this (all prices per user per month, on annual commitment, excluding GST):
Base (around ₹99)
An India-only plan sold directly by Google on a self-service basis. Custom Gmail on your own domain and the core apps — the cheapest legitimate way to get you@yourbusiness.com running on Google’s infrastructure.
Starter (around ₹270)
The plan most small businesses actually use — formerly “Business Starter.” Custom Gmail, 30GB storage per user, Meet, Drive, Docs, and the standard admin controls.
Standard (around ₹1,080)
Formerly “Business Standard” — 2TB storage per user, larger Meet calls with recording, and shared drives. Worth it for teams that genuinely live in Drive and Meet, overkill for a 2-person shop that mainly needs professional email.
The Two Things That Change Your Real Bill
18% GST — every advertised price excludes it. A “₹270” plan is actually ₹318.60 per user per month on your invoice. Budget with GST included from the start.
Annual vs monthly billing — the headline prices assume a 12-month commitment. Flexible month-to-month billing costs roughly 16-20% more per user. Annual is cheaper if your team size is stable.
How Many Users Do You Actually Need to Pay For?
Workspace is priced per user, and this is where small businesses routinely overpay. A “user” is a separate mailbox with its own login — but addresses like info@, sales@, or support@ do not each need to be paid users. They can be set up as free aliases or groups that deliver into an existing mailbox. A typical 2-person business needs exactly 2 paid users, not 5 — one per human, with the role addresses pointed at them. Confirm this before you buy, because the difference between 2 and 5 users on the Starter plan is over ₹11,000 a year with GST.
Buying from Google Directly vs Through a Reseller
Google Workspace in India is sold both by Google directly and by authorised partners/resellers. Resellers sometimes offer small discounts or bundle migration help, and for larger teams they can negotiate. For a typical small business the direct price and the reseller price end up close — what matters more is that whoever sets it up configures your domain records (MX, SPF, DKIM) correctly, because a wrongly configured setup means your emails silently land in spam folders. One caution with resellers: make sure the Workspace subscription is registered under your business account, not the reseller’s — otherwise switching providers later means fighting for control of your own email.
Is Google Workspace Worth It for a Small Indian Business?
If email is how customers reach you, yes — a you@yourbusiness.com address answers a credibility question before the customer asks it, and Gmail’s spam filtering and reliability are genuinely better than most cheap hosting-bundled email. If you are a one-person business watching every rupee, the honest alternative is the basic email hosting bundled with many hosting plans — cheaper, but noticeably worse deliverability and storage. We compare the options in our business email guide.
What the Subscription Does Not Include: Setup
Google’s subscription gives you the service; connecting it correctly to your domain is on you. That means verifying domain ownership, switching MX records without dropping mail mid-migration, and setting up SPF/DKIM/DMARC so your messages actually reach inboxes. It is a one-time job — our business email setup service handles the complete configuration from ₹799, including moving existing mailboxes over, and it works whether you choose Google Workspace or another provider.
Want professional email running on your domain without touching a DNS record yourself? Our business email setup service (from ₹799, one-time) sets up Google Workspace or any other provider correctly — SPF, DKIM, migration and all. Get in touch.
