What “Pixel-Perfect” Can and Cannot Mean
A Figma file is a set of fixed-width frames. The web is not fixed width — it is every size between a small phone and a wide monitor, with the visitor free to change the text size. Nobody can make a fluid medium match a fixed one at every possible width, and an agency that promises otherwise has not thought about it.
What pixel-perfect honestly means is this: at your design breakpoints the build matches the file — spacing, type scale, colour, alignment. Between those breakpoints, the layout has to make decisions your file does not contain, and those decisions are where a good conversion differs from a cheap one. Ask anybody quoting you what happens at 900 pixels wide if your design only has 1440 and 375.
Your Figma File Decides the Price More Than the Page Count
Two designs with the same number of screens can take very different amounts of work, and the difference is in the file rather than the design.
- Auto-layout and components tell the developer what is meant to stretch, repeat and stay fixed. Without them, every decision is a guess that has to be checked with you.
- Named text and colour styles become the site’s type scale and palette directly. Twenty ad-hoc greys become twenty questions.
- Stated breakpoints. A desktop frame alone means the mobile layout is being designed during development, by a developer, which is not what you paid a designer for.
If your file is a flat mockup, say so when you ask for a quote. It is still perfectly buildable — it just changes what the work is, and a quote given without knowing that will be wrong.
What Happens After Handover
A converted design is a starting point, not a finished project. Content changes, a section gets added, a campaign needs a new page. If you expect to keep evolving it, say so before the build, because that changes how the sections are structured — and it is easier than retrofitting later through theme customisation.
