Domain Age Checker

Find out how old any domain name is. This free domain age checker reads the live registry record (RDAP — the modern replacement for WHOIS) and shows the registration date, the exact age in years and months, the expiry date, the registrar, the domain's status, and its name servers.

📅 Registration date⏳ Exact age🏷️ Registrar & expiry🔒 No sign-up
📅 Type a domain (just the name, like example.com) to see when it was registered.

💡 Dates come straight from the registry's RDAP record, so they are authoritative. A few country-code registries don't publish RDAP yet — for those we'll tell you honestly that no record was available rather than estimate an age.

Simple & Instant

How the domain age checker works

Live registry data, not a cached database.

1

Enter the domain

Paste a full URL if you like — we trim it to the registered domain.

2

We ask the registry

An RDAP query goes to the registry that actually manages that extension (.com, .in, .org…).

3

See the age & dates

Registered, updated, expires, registrar, status, name servers — and the age worked out for you.

Why domain age matters — and what it doesn't do

Let's be honest first: Google has said many times that domain age by itself is not a meaningful ranking factor, so an old domain won't rank simply for being old. What an older, continuously-registered domain does carry is history — years of links, mentions, and content that a brand-new domain hasn't earned yet. That's why a website age checker is useful when you're evaluating a domain to buy, comparing yourself with competitors, or wondering why a rival outranks you with what looks like a similar site.

It's also a quick trust check. A "well-established" company whose domain was registered three weeks ago is worth a second look before you pay them, and a supplier whose domain expires next month may be about to disappear. Checking the expiry date on your own domain is the most important use of all — an expired domain takes your website and email offline at the same time.

FAQ

Domain age checker — FAQs

What is RDAP, and how is it different from WHOIS?

RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the structured, secure replacement for the old plain-text WHOIS system, run by the same registries. It returns the same registration, expiry, and registrar details in a reliable format — which is why this domain age lookup uses it.

Why does it say "no record found" for my domain?

Either the domain isn't registered, or its registry doesn't publish RDAP data yet (a handful of country-code extensions still don't). We'd rather say so than show a made-up date.

Can I see who owns the domain?

Usually not. Since privacy rules like GDPR, registries and registrars redact the owner's name and contact details in public records. You'll see the registrar and dates, but the registrant is normally hidden.

Does a domain's age help SEO?

Not directly. What helps is the history an older domain may carry — existing links and content. A fresh domain with great content and real links will outrank an old, empty one.

Can you manage my domain for me?

Yes — registration, renewals, DNS, transfers, and connecting it to your website and email are all part of our hosting and domain support.
