Claimed, Verified, Optimised — Three Different Things
Most owners tell us their profile is “done”. Usually it is in one of three quite different states, and only the third one earns anything.
- Claimed means the listing is attached to your Google account. It exists. It may still be wrong.
- Verified means Google has confirmed the business is real, usually by postcard, phone or video. Until this happens, edits may not stick and the profile can be edited by strangers.
- Optimised means the primary category is correct, every service is listed, the hours and service area are true, photos exist, and reviews are being answered. This is where the calls come from.
The gap between verified and optimised is where nearly every profile we look at sits.
The Setting That Moves the Most, and Costs Nothing
If you change one thing today, change the primary category. It decides which searches you are eligible to appear in at all, and a wrong or vague choice quietly removes you from the results that matter. A dental clinic listed under “Doctor” competes in the wrong race entirely.
After that, the secondary categories and the services list, then photos, then the description. None of this requires paying anybody, and we would rather you knew that: our step-by-step guide on how to set up a Google Business Profile walks through the whole thing free.
When You Should Not Pay Us for This
If your profile is already verified, the category is right, and the details are accurate, you do not need a setup service. What you need next is reviews and posts, and those are mostly things you do rather than buy — we can set up the review link that makes asking easy, but nobody can collect them for you. Come to us when the profile is suspended, when there are duplicate listings confusing Google about which one is real, when a verification has failed repeatedly, or when you simply want it done properly once and left alone.
A profile also works hardest when there is something behind it. It can stand alone, but a profile plus a real site converts better than either — see local SEO services for the ongoing side, or our website services if the site itself is the gap.
